I purchased Sim City 4 as part of the SImCity Box at least 8 years ago, maybe longer. I share your pain about EA customer service.
I'd like to install it on my Windows10 machine, but it would apparently have to be through "Origin", as the CD version can't be used with Windows 10 at all., So for now, I'm using SC4 only on my old WindowsXP machine. I'm attempting to find a way to install my existing SimCity4 onto Origin without re-purchasing it (since I already paid for it when I bought it back around 2003), but I'm not sure if that's possible. It works, because it avoids the incompatibility problem between the CD version of SimCity4 and Windows10, which was due to a conflict between the "SafeDisk" copy-protection technology used by the SimCity4 CDs, and Windows10 which does not allow SafeDisk. (They're not perfect but on THIS issue, they're not the guilty party.)Īlternatively, you can apparently re-purchase a digital copy of SimCity4 through the "Origin" web site, and use THAT on Windows 10. EA has nothing to do with that and NO control over it, so don't blame them. But that's Microsoft's fault, not EA's fault.
And they still do! However, you will need to get an old Windows XP computer, because Windows 10 is NOT compatible with SimCity4. The CD versions of the 2003 game SimCity4 work just fine, with the Windows operating system that existed in 2003 (namely, Windows XP). Re "I will take your money, thank you, and if it don't work oh! well, Next", it's not like that at all.
To use skim effectively, you first need to download it and then install it onto your computer, once you've done this press start and then click on add new pools. This program uses the same tiles as the original, but also adds support for the Cityscape add-on which you can download from the Maxis website. The other way, which allows you to play on the Internet is to actually use a program called "Maxis Skim" which is a clone of Microsoft windows Live Workspace. Although installing these images might be a solution to your problem. If you have an older version you will see no difference as the virus will just change the graphics. The downside to using one of these images is that it will only work if you have an up to date version of windows.
By installing one of these images you will be able to play the game while on the Internet. These images can easily be downloaded form the internet and placed in the folder which normally lies alongside your windows 3.x operating system. There are many ways around this issue and one of which is to install images of Sim City 2021 onto your hard drive. I have tested this virus on a windows vista system and has caused severe problems, which includes the use of my system for a month without any reliable way to recover it. If you choose to download one of these sims games, remember that you do so at your own risk. The problem is that by using this antivirus you are risking the security of your computer by allowing strangers on the Internet to view your personal data.
This virus basically allows anyone with the software to view a specific city through your ISP. Maxis Soft A/V is an online application for Microsoft Windows, using the Tile Redirect Virus to redirect your Internet browser to Sim City 2021.
